I am, for the most part, unsure how I feel about surprises. I have a complicated hierarchy by which I judge the acceptability, or lack thereof, of various possible surprise situations. For example, being surprised by a friend who shows up at the house because they were near by and thought of you? This is a perfect type of surprise and is high on my list of possible "good surprises." A large surprise party for a birthday or other event? Absolutely horrifying and on the list of "surprises that I really hope won't happen to me." I think, really, that the smaller the surprise is, the better I like it.
Thus, I was so very pleased to come home from my afternoon run today and find a wholly unexpected little package in mailbox. Mail surprises are definitely high on the list of Very Good Surprises and are among my very favorite. The package was from Amanda at SouleMama, and inside I found a sweet little drawstring bag filled with an assortment of cards and envelopes. If memory serves, I think that the cards are made from favorite photos from her blog over the years. They are wintry, but also bright and beautiful. Perfect for sending, and for hanging here.
I do like the right type of surprise. However, I like nice people even more. Thanks, Amanda!
