Over the last month or so, I've been working away on a behind-the-scenes project related to Alphabet Glue. A few times I've come really close to telling you all about it, but I managed to keep the secret to myself long enough that now I get to make a big, fun announcement: Alphabet Glue for iPad has arrived!
When Dan first suggested that I make the magazine available for iPad, I will admit that I wasn't super excited about the idea. Initially, I wasn't sure that an iPad app was a good fit for a publication that is all about making things with your hands, holding a book in your lap and in short, turning off the computer to get in some good, old-fashioned crafting time with the littles. But the more that I thought about it, the more that I realized that the way that families are relating to the digital world is really undergoing a shift right now. More and more, I know families that use things like iPads to be able to quickly reference digital resources of some type before shutting it off and going analog again. Rather than being tied to the household desktop computer or hauling the laptop from room to room in the house, it seems like a lot of the parents that I know are using more portable devices in an attempt to be more efficient and thoughtful about the time that they spend online. And, I can certainly support that idea.
And, of course, there is also the paper-saving aspect of the whole deal. For families who would rather print fewer pages, the app creates a really easy way to reference lists and tutorial instructions from wherever they may be working on projects, while only printing out the pages that are really needed or wanted for a particular project. Plus, I will not lie to you, Alphabet Glue looks really pretty and sparkly on the iPad screen. So there's that.
So, people of the iPad persuasion, head on over to the app store and check out Alphabet Glue for the iPad Newsstand.
For those of you who like to go it PDF style, you can still (and always!) download the magazine by visiting the Alphabet Glue page here on the blog, or by visiting the Alphabet Glue website.
