As you might have guessed from my long absence from this space, we have a new family member to introduce to the world. Zak was born eleven days ago, pretty much without major incident (if you don't count the bit where I was confronted by a semi-aggressive opposum on my way out the door to the hospital at 3 a.m. in the howling wind and rain). Anyhow, he is super sweet, very mellow and seems to be tolerating the rest of us quite nicely. We'll have to remember to thank him for that later. Mariam, of course, is absolutely in love.
It is a very funny thing to suddenly be four when we were just three for so many years. But I think that we all agree that is also a very good thing. Babies, I am now remembering, are kind of awesome.
