Mariam's cards for the Artist Trading Cards Kid's Swap are due in the mail by Friday, and I've been trying to gently nudge her to get busy on them for the last week or so. I think I previously mentioned her hesitancy to do anything that she perceives as being my idea, so yeah, she was less motivated than I had hoped. Some cards have already arrived here for her, sent by little swap-mates from around the globe, and she has been thrilled to open the envelopes and find the little art treasures inside. But not thrilled enough to sit down and do her own. But then I decided that a big box of brand new colored pencils might be just the thing to get the process moving. And indeed, it was. We got the requisite trading cards as well as a series of pictures depicting the rain forest and some very colorful inhabitants. Oh, and she wrote Dan a secret letter that she hid for him to find later and be surprised by. Here are her cards:
Picture titles from left to right, top to bottom: Pug in a Raincoat, Main in the Rainforest, Beach with a Seagull, Rainforest, Elephant and Birds in the Jungle, Balloons by the Creek
It is probably important to note that Pug in a Raincoat is part of a series of sorts. Our neighbor across the street has a dog who always wears appropriate gear for current weather conditions and Mariam is absolutely fascinated.
