Let me begin by saying that I know that I'm always posting close-ups of Mariam's hands holding various things. This is apparently both my default photo op. and my default for photos to blog when I haven't made anything for awhile. What can I say? I think her chubby little fingers are super cute.
Anyway, the point is what she's got those chubby little fingers on. Apples. Many of them. The new place has a couple of apple trees and we have been seriously awash in the sudden ripeness of many, many apples. So my friend Tracy and I made apple butter (a recipe from this book) and then I made many, many apple crisps and turnovers. But this was not enough. There were more. And more. So the other night I made Dan and one of his friends peel apples while I cored and chopped them and we made a huge pot of apple sauce. And thus we have managed to use up the current supply of apples.
Until we go out and pick more tomorrow morning. It sounds like I'm complaining but really, I love it. Oh, except for the fact that I can't actually bake anything else because the oven has mysteriously stopped turning on. Sigh.
